Egypt, New Kingdom / Third Intermediate Period, ca. 1550 to 712 BCE. A trio of game pieces from "senet", or "passing", the most popular of the Egyptian board games. Two are glazed faience, with mushroom-like shapes. The third is alabaster and is a disc with space for a tab to attach it to a base. Senet simulated the soul's journey through the underworld on the quest for immortality.
