Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Central Highlands, Tlatilco culture, Morelos style, Middle Pre-Classic period, ca. 1150 to 550 BCE. A hand-built and highly burnished redware pottery figure of a female standing atop attenuated legs. The nude woman presents with outstretched arms, a bulbous abdomen beneath globular breasts, and a broad neck. The enlarged head features impressed almond-shaped eyes with pierced pupils, furrowed brows, a protruding nose, an ovoid mouth with a central tooth, and tab-shaped ears, all beneath a spiral-adorned headdress with a notched brim.
