A JINGASA WITH A RARE MON

Japan, late Edo (1615-1868) to Meiji period (1868-1912)
Lustrous roironuri on the exterior and interior, the shape of the hat like the slight slope of a small hill. The mon painted in gold lacquer on the exterior shows three square frames or kaku – rare for a mon but has long been in use.

Condition: Age-related damages, especially chips on the rim.
