Description
A CARVED LONGQUAN CELADON ‘LOTUS’ JAR, YUAN TO EARLY MING
China, 13th – 14th century. The barrel-shaped jar with an incised lotus design on the sides above a palm leaf border, the celadon glaze covering both the exterior and the interior, except for the raised circular foot rim revealing the buff ware.
Condition: Superb condition with few minor traces of wear.
Provenance: English private estate. Sold by Woolley & Wallis in London on 15 July 2006 for £650 hammer price at Oriental Ceramics and Works of Art, lot 459.
