A ROCK CRYSTAL CARVING OF A CELESTIAL LADY, LATE QING TO REPUBLIC
China, late 19th – early 20th century. Intricately carved with pierced and openwork elements, the lady wearing long, flowing robes with bands, holding a fan in one hand and a branch in the other, with branches and springing flowers towering behind her.
Condition: Good condition with minor chipping and wear.
Provenance: From the collection of Georg Weifert (1850-1937). Thence by descent in the same family. Weifert was a Serbo-Austrian industrialist and the first governor of the Federal Bank of the Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia.
