Description SMALL LADY'S DESK Napoléon III, Paris, 2nd half of the 19th century. The decorative lock plate, signed by Alphonse Giroux à Paris. Active between 1799 and 1867. Tulipwood and rosewood in veneer, in reserves and fan-shaped motifs. Curved body with 3/4 gallery in pierced bronze. Hinged, slightly curved writing surface, opening up into an interior with 3 drawers, featuring a gilt, chiseled and signed decorative lock plate. Gilt ornamental bronzes. 1 key. 70 x 40(open 64) x 84 cm. Gilding, rubbed. Signs of use. Handle of the cover, broken-off at the lower compartment. Bronze fillet, slightly incomplete. The writing desk on offer, with the exception of a few details in the decoration, is identical to a writing desk by the famous Parisian furniture-maker and dealer, preserved at the Galerie Marc Maison, Paris. Alphonse Giroux was also called "le marchand des princes" because of his important clientele. The House of Giroux achieved particularly great fame on the occasion of the World Exhibition in Paris in 1855, where Empress Eugénie purchased a "bonheur du jour", which is now located in the Chateau de Compiègne. --------------- KLEINES DAMENBUREAU Napoléon III, Paris, 2. H?lfte 19. Jh. Die Schlosszierplatte signiert von Alphonse Giroux à Paris. Aktiv in Paris zwischen 1799 und 1867. Rosenholz und Palisander furniert in Reserven und F?chermotiven. Leicht trapezf?rmiger, allseitig bombierter und geschweifter Korpus mit abschliessender Dreiviertelgalerie in durchbrochener Bronze. Die klappbare Schreiblade wenig bombiert, vor dreischübigem Innern, mit vergoldeter, ziselierter und signierter Schlosszierplatte. Auf geschweifter Zarge und geschwungenen Beinen. Vergoldete Zierbronzen in Form von Puttok?pfen, Friesen und Bl?ttern. 1 Schlüssel. 70 x 40(offen 64) x 84 cm. Vergoldung berieben, Gebrauchsspuren. Griff des Deckels beim Bodenfach abgebrochen. Bronzefilet leicht unvollst?ndig. Das hier beschriebene Schreibm?bel als Bureau de pente ist bis auf wenige Details des Dekors identisch mit einem Schreibm?bel des berühmten Pariser M?belbauers und H?ndlers, welches sich in Paris, Galerie Marc Maison, erhalten hat. Alphonse Giroux nannte man seiner bedeutenden Kundschaft wegen auch "le marchand des princes". Besonders grossen Ruhm erlangte das Haus Giroux anl?sslich der Weltausstellung in Paris, im Jahre 1855, wo sich die Kaiserin Eugénie ein Bonheur du jour des für seine Luxusm?bel bekannten Hauses ankaufte. Es befindet sich heute in Schloss Compiègne.
