Born in Lizhuang Village, Lizhuang Township, Qingyuan County, Hebei Province in 1946, he graduated from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 1969 and has been teaching there since then. He has successively served as the chairman, professor and master tutor of the Department of Chinese Painting of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. Currently the curator of the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, the vice chairman of the Tianjin Artists Association, a member of the Chinese Artists Association, a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, a distinguished professor at Nathan University, a doctoral tutor, a member of the Expert Committee of the Greater China School District, and an outside painter of the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts Consultant of Tianjin Youth Artists Association, awarded the title of “ Tianjin University Teacher“. He is currently a visiting professor at the School of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University, Tianjin Conservatory of Music, Shanxi Normal University, Shanxi University, Yantai University, and an expert consultant of the Peking University Guoxue Society.
