Thangka of Hayagriva, Heruka, The Horse-Necked One, Tibet, c.late 18th or early 19th century, gouache on cotton, 45 x 30 inches, in a cherry wood frame 49 x 33 inches, central figure of the fierce deity Hayagriva with a horse's head emanating from above his own central face, in consort, with six harms holding a noose and sword among other objects, wearing necklace of skulls, surrounded by four attendants, Buddha Amitabha at upper center with Padmasambhava and Gyalwa Chogyang, teacher with yellow hat at top left, with many other dakinis and protectors at bottom. Condition Report Good condition with age appropriate creasing and resulting small areas of paint loss, faint staining, not examined outside of frame.
