14th century AD. A pewter mask of St. Servatius, bearded and wearing a mitre with loops to the brow, ornamented tunic; Maastricht workmanship. 17.7 grams, 64mm (2 1/2"). From the property of a Cambridgeshire gentleman; formerly in a collection formed prior to 2000. St. Servatius is the patron saint of the Dutch city of Maastricht and the towns of Schijndel and Grimbergen. He was bishop of Tongeren and died in 384 AD. Fine condition.
