2nd-4th century AD. A carved schist statue of standing nimbate Buddha with serene expression, flowing robe draped across his left shoulder, hair gathered around the ushnisha, small crouching figure at feet holding the side of the robe; standing on a floral base; mounted on a custom-made stand. 7.2 kg total, 43cm including stand (17"). From the property of a London gentleman; formerly in a UK collection, acquired in the 1990s.
