Good early 19th Century Scottish mahogany-cased eight-day brass dial longcase clock, James Muirhead Junior, Glasgow, of 'Domestic Regulator' type, the 12-inch circular Roman dial with subsidiary seconds and calendar dials, inscribed Jas. Muirhead Jun'r Glasgow, the knopped four-pillar movement with deadbeat escapement, striking on a bell, the case with scroll-carved pediment and fluted frieze over conforming columns, the sides with brass lancet arch tracery, moulded break-arch long trunk door between leaf-capped fluted columns on moulded plain base, 198cm high Condition: Dial may have been previously silvered. Some typical white staining and losses to Roman numerals. Movement appears sound but is not tested and sold as seen. Case has a little cracking here and there. Losses to trunk door including to top edge moulding and top half of left side, some moulding losses to top of base, other minor damage commensurate with age and use.
