A finely painted around the body with a snowy, mountainous, river landscape featuring a fisherman on a boat accompanying a poem about a lone fisherman and signed Xu Ren He Chu in the year of Ren Shen (1932) with two seals reading Xuren and He Chu, the base with a four-character seal mark in iron red reading Xuren Chu Pin ('made by Xuren') Dimensions are: 8 1/2 inches tall X 4 1/2 inches wide, 21.6 cm tall X 11.4 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: It is in good condition. Provenance: From a Philadelphia collector, brought from Hong Kong to the US in 1960s to 1970s. It is one of a pair. The other vase was featured in our Winter Asian Art and Antiques Auction on Jan 12, 2019 as Lot 178. A similar snow scene vase was sold at auction at Christie's London on November 8, 2013, as Lot 1239. A pair of snow scene vases by He Xuren was sold at auction by Christie's Hong Kong on May 29, 2013 as Lot 2034. A snow scene vase converted to a square pen holder was sold at Sotheby's New York on September 12, 2018 as Lot 383. A famille rose snow scene porcelain plaque by He Xuren is illustrated in _Jing Yi Tang Cang Ci_, Nanchang: Jiangxi Fine Arts Publishing House, 2001, pg. 138 (fig. 1).
