A KING GEORGE V FIELD COMMEMORATIVE STONE PLAQUE, rectangular, carved with a lion and shield, 61cm x 46cm x 11cm
Provenance: The plaque was originally on the entrance gate posts of Retford's Kings Park Children's Play Park which was redeveloped for housing. On the death of George V in 1936, four hundred and seventy one childrens' parks and playfields were protected following donations of both money and land as a memorial to the late king. The play areas were identified by the heraldic plaques signifying their status as a King George V field.
