A RARE EARLY 19TH CENTURY STAFFORDSHIRE DOCUMENTARY JUG for 'Tho's Knaginton, The Famous Mole Destroyer', the thinly potted baluster body beneath a deep cylindrical neck and loop handle, one side of the jug with a circular roundel painted with Knaginton in a field of mole hills with leafless tree to the left and house and church on the rise of the hill, the reverse with pheasant on a rocky outcrop, the title with carafe and pipes to one side and goblet to the other and floral spray beneath, continuous garland band to the shoulder, the rim to the neck with yellow and brown foliate detailed swags on an ochre ground, 20cm high (faults).
