A very beautiful sterling silver seven piece tea & coffee service, maker's mark of The William B. Durgin Co., Concord, New Hampshire, number 1823B, circa 1900, comprising of a teapot, coffeepot, cream pot, covered sugar bowl, waste bowl, hot water kettle with stand and spirit lamp, and tray. The tea service pieces of melon form on a shaped circular foot, flat-chased with garland swags, acanthus leaves and strap-work enclosing cartouches, centering at engraved initial "R", the teapot, coffeepot, sugar bowl and kettle with melon-shaped ivory finials, the shaped oblong tray with a reeded border, the rim flat chased with garland swags,acanthus leaves and strap-work, the two bracket handles with acanthus leaf decoration in relief; height of the kettle on stand is 13 1/2", length of the tray is 29 inches.
