Description Bronze Post Gandhara , 6th to 7th century Dimensions: Height 34 cm by 20 cm Weight: 5531 grams The Buddha is seated on an open-work throne supported by a kneeling disciple and two animals, possibly lions. The Buddha is dressed in wavy garments covering the right shoulder and he is seated in lotus position. His hands are folded in the gesture of teaching. The Buddha's expression is friendly with downcast eyes but the inlay creates a piercing look. The head and ushnisha are covered in tiny curls. The Buddha is framed by a fiery aureole. Next to him are standing disciples with one hand forming a mudra while holding objects in the other, like a flask. The back of the piece is flat.
