Description Bronze Thailand , Lanna 17th century Dimensions: Height 40 cm Weight: 3656 grams Sitting Buddha on a flared base with small damage. The Buddha is sitting on a blanket with beads and tassels in lotus pose with legs crossed forming the bhumispharsa mudra, calling the earth to witness. The Buddha's figure is slender and draped in cloth over the right shoulder. The Buddha's features are elongated, his long, narrow face, broad nose and high hairstyle are typical of Northern Thai bronze Buddhas. The eyes are downcast and the face has distinct features created by fine but hard lines forming the eyebrows, eyelids and lips. A fine crack is visible on the back of the shoulder.
