Signed 一竿子忠綱 (Ikkanshi Tadatsuna) on the tang.
Provenance: Fabrizio Savi collection, acquired in 2000 from Fred Weissberg.
The blade has a kurikara type decoration on one side, with a dragon twisting its coils around a vajra. It has a rich mount consisting of a partially gilded four-lobed tsuba with chrysanthemum branches in relief, the tsuka covered with fish skin and silk thread, the partially gilded metal menuki in the shape of chrysanthemums, fuchi and kashira in metal with flowers and a wild boar amidts autumn grass, the saya scabbard of 'day and night' type, on one side a black lacquer ground with gold chrysanthemums in maki-e, on the other side a gold ground with a metal application in the shape of a mantis.
