A Chinese jade pendant in the form of an axe blade (Chang), circa 1900Pendant in the shape of an axe blade. Straight neck, slightly rounded blunt edge. With a pierced hole at the top and incised decoration on both sides in the shape of the stylised eye area of a Tao-t'ieh head. Greenish, translucent and deeply calcinated nephrite jade. Intact. Height 8.6 cm. In the style of the Shang period (12th - 11th century B.C.).
