Description A LARGE CHAM SILVER BETEL NUT CONTAINER WITH GOLD REPOUSSé COVER
Champa, 15th-18th century. The betel holder of baluster shape with a recessed circular base, the cover consisting of two separate parts, the top part a finial in silver and gold, finely executed in repoussé with floral and geometric patterns, the finial and lower section connected by a silver chain.
Provenance: Ex-Collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above.
Condition: Very good condition with minor traces of age and wear, few miniscule losses, some verdigris, and betel residue to the interior.
