These two antique porcelain plates are hand painted with blue and orange floral motifs within a famille rose patterned border around the rims. They date from the Chinese Qianlong period (1735-96), which was considered the height of porcelain production in China, and were probably produced for export to the West. Emperor Qianlong had an extravagant taste, so porcelain wares made during this time were particularly densely decorated.
