Of circular form with foliate rim, brightly enamelled in the famille verte palette, the centre decorated with a lively scene of a phoenix and dragon confronting among pine and peony, encircled by a border of curved cartouches, each containing alternately different blooms or a different beast, the border with six cartouches containing butterflies reserved against a honeycomb ground, the glazed base with an artemisia leaf within a double circle in underglaze blue.
