PROVENANCE: From Private estate collections of David Frederick Boyd, of Marietta, Georgia (1935 - 2018). Served in the United States Army, thereafter, employed by a fortune 500 company and remained there for the rest of his working career. He is admired for Habitat for Humanity activist and a prominent antiques collector, mostly Chinese Antiques and European furniture at his large Victorian house in Georgia.
Fabulous, Chinese Yuan Dynasty Period, Blue & white floral open face porcelain jar. The Finest porcelain potted with a large cylinder vessel, jar shape, having thick and tall potted body, sturdily potted in slight ovoid belly, heavy on shoulder gently tapered on short neck, toward thick opening mouth prominent, emerge two head myth beast on the shoulder, with slight flaring opening lip, and raised on flat wide round foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white under glazed base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color, depicted of open space abundant flowers blooms with scrolling foliage all in ruyi form rim, surrounded scrolling interlocking tendril and foliage, thrashing lishui waves, enclosed geometric pattern and, rectangles. Blue and white porcelain in Chinese it is called Qing Hua Ci. It is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. It was originated in the Yuan Dynasty.
