Chinese Yuan Dynasty Period, Blue and white vase. The porcelain shaped into a traditional Meiping form, thick potted, with a narrow base, wide body, slender neck easing to form a petite opening with slight emerge ring line. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine design color. The main body adorned with peony flower blooms interspersed with fresh foliage banded with scrolling ruyi and geometric pattern. The shoulder decorated with thrashing Lishui wavy on the ruyi shape medallion interspersed with flower blooms and scrolling foliage, enclosed with auspicious pattern. The foot base rim festooned with auspicious motif, enclosed with double fine blue rings lines. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
