Description Native American, early to mid 20th century. Northwest coast Tlingit carved and polychrome shaman rattle depicting figures on the back of an oyster catcher, having inset shell eyes and hide binding on the grip. Symbolizing the role theshaman has in both the human and spirit world. Accompanied by stand. Apparently unmarked. Approx. h. 4.75", w. 3.5", d. 12.25" (not on stand), h. on stand 8.625".
Condition Report Wear commensurate with age and materials. Minor loss to polychrome, tiny loss to seam on side of body -- stable and not distracting and tiny chip near frog head. Oxidization to leather.
