Bronze China, Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) Dimensions: Height 22 cm by 19 cm Weight: 1250 grams Manjushri seated on a lion laying prostrate on a lotus flower base. Manjushri Buddha is holding one hand lifted in front of the chest with thumb and middle finger touching. The other hand is lifted in front of his belly holding something, possibly an utpala flower. He is wearing a robe over the shoulders, a broad band around the waist and decorative necklaces on the chest. The head is also elaborately adorned with flower earrings and a high tiara. The oval face is fleshy and has tiny lips, a pointy nose and downcast eyes.
