Depicting two oni being pelted with roasted soybeans by Okame as part of the oni-yarai festival (also known as setsubun), a year-end rite to cleanse away all the evil of the former year and drive away disease-bringing evil spirits for the year to come. One of the oni is running behind the goddess, while the other is hiding behind her robe, with only the legs still visible. The Shinto goddess Okame is a popular deity of the festival and participates in the exorcism.
