Carved from boxwood, finely stained, and with inlays of ivory. The old man Hanasaka Jiji is shown sitting on a stump of a cherry tree with his basket full of ash, which he scatters around bringing the cherry flowers to bloom. Signed within an inlaid ivory cartouche RYUKEI.
