Description Carl Boppo, son of the Hamburg portrait and history painter Louis George Boppo (1809?1868), enrolled in painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich on January 21, 1869, where he became a studentof the history painter Arthur von Ramberg . From 1886 at the latest he lived in Düsseldorf. There he was a member of the artists' association Malkasten This fabulous painting features a sleeping woman,and what appears to be the devil staring at her in the forest, fabulous detail. Signed lower left Boppo. Painting measures 39 1/2 X 29 plus frame. Property of a Boca Raton collector Condition Report All lots are sold as is and where is.
