Description Chinese white crackle glazed waterpot, the globular body with waisted neck opening to a gently flaring rim. Covered throughout with rich glaze suffused with black and golden crackles. Measures approx. 1 7/8" height x 2 3/8" deiameter (4.8cm x 6cm). Provenance: Professor Wu Jilu's Chinese porcelain collection of Sung & Ming Dynasty ceramics. Acquired from a private Northern California estate by descent. Purchased from AliceBoney Chinese Art in 1956. Lot includes photocopy of original receipt (item #313), dated December 21, 1956. Retains label to bottom. Prof Wu Jilu was a professor in Chinese Literature, and an avid collector ofChinese porcelain antiques, esp. those with strong Sung Dynasty style & flavor. He had a collection of over 100 items from China?s Sung, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. He had bought most of those collections from various antiques shops and small auction houses across the world over the past 25 years. Some his antique collections were auctioned by major auction houses, such as Sotheby?s and China?s Guardian Auction, Hong Kong.
