Description A Chinese Zitan "Guan Pi Xiang" seal chest dating from the 18th century. The exterior is carved with scholar's items on its front and beasts on its sides and top. The interior of the box has seven drawers. Dimensions are: 16 1/4 inches tall X 15 inches wide X 11 1/2 inches deep, 41.3 cm X 38.1 cm X 29.2 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Condition Report There is a repair to one foot and areas of minor loss to the skirt. There is very minor cracking to the lid and abrasions on one side. Overall, the piece is in good condition.

Notes A similar Zitan seal chest, but carved with landscape scenes instead of scholar's items and beasts, was sold at Sotheby's New York on March 17, 2015, as lot 207.
