Description A pair of Chinese wood table screens with stands and black-lacquered plaques dating from the 18th century. The plaques are inlaid with precious stones depicting branches with various insects; one screen has butterflies and the other has a praying mantis. Dimensions are: the plaque measures 12 1/4 inches tall X 10 inches wide, 31.1 cm X 25.4 cm, while the screen with the stand measures 20 1/2 inches tall X 13 1/2 inches wide, 52.1 cm X 34.3 cm. Condition Report There are areas of breakage and repair on both screens with possible areas of replacement of precious stones on one plaque. One wooden skirt on one stand is replaced. There is cracking to the lacquer ground on the plaques. The wooden screens and stands have separation at the seams.
