Description A Chinese ink painting on gold-flecked paper attributed to Bada Shanren of a bird on a rock. The painting has an inscription, 2 seals, and is mounted on a silk backing and 1 wooden dowel. Condition Report The painting is in good condition.
Provenance From a private collection in Northern Virginia. The collector is of Russian descent but was born in Harbin, China, in 1935. Following the end of WWII, her family moved to Shanghai and stayed there until 1952 when they relocated to Hong Kong. These items were acquired during the family's time in Shanghai from private collections and art auctions. When the family moved to the US in the late 1950s, they brought their collection with them.
