QING DYNASTY (1644-1912)
清 銅鏨花嵌玉方盒及白玉童子持蓮
the first a dark russet and white jade figure of a boy, the figure depicted standing, wearing flowing robes, bearing a large rice stalk with both hands, the mottled white stone with cloudy inclusions and dark russet skins; the second a celadon jade inset gilt copper covered box, the cover inset with a rectangular jade plaque pierced and carved to show a winged qilin underneath a shou character and enclosed by flowering branches, the sides of the box chased with lotus scrolls.
Length of box 4 5/8 in., 11.7 cm.
