十五/十六世紀 龍泉窰青釉刻開光牡丹圖坐墩Provenance: an important European private collection來源:歐洲重要私人收藏Intricately decorated with moulded designs of blossoming peonies, the present stool represents functionality in an auspicious fashion. Its form probably derived from Song dynasty cane stools, which were constructed by bending lengths of cane into oval shape and fastening them together. The original form eventually evolved into a barrel shape during the Ming dynasty; see Wang Shixiang, Connoisseurship of Chinese Furniture, vol.1, Hong Kong, 1990, p.34-35.The profusion of blossoming peonies fugui represents auspicious symbolism relating to wishes for happiness, wealth and honour. In addition, due to the homophonic nature of Chinese language, the characters fu and gui with a different tone can be spoken the same as, respectively, the words meaning happiness and riches.Compare with a related Longquan celadon-glazed barrel-shaped garden seat illustrated by A.Du Boulay, Christie's Pictorial History of Chinese Ceramics, New Jersey, 1984, p.100, no.2.此類瓷製坐墩沿襲宋制,既保留有來自藤墩的開光,又有來自鼓腔釘蒙皮革的鼓釘裝飾。見王世襄著,《明式家具研究》,卷一,香港,1990年,頁34-35。主體以牡丹為飾,開光內兩枝相交,層層綻放,雍容華貴,姿態萬千。再加青瓷釉層豐潤,光澤柔和,美不勝收。比較一例相關的龍泉窯青釉坐墩,收錄於A.Du Boulay著,《Christie's Pictorial History of Chinese Ceramics》,新澤西,1984年,頁100,編號2。
