Description Makri rug, Southwest Anatolia, third quarter 19th century. Two recognizable vertical hexagonal panels and a wide palette of bright hues identify this well-known type. The presence of architectural spandrels above the two panels may indicate that this was made as a prayer rug. The cheerful rug is made even more lively by diverse elements in the two panels.
