Description Yomut chuval, Turkmenistan, third quarter 19th century. Leigh Marsh loved the colorful "bats" in this border, as they are clearly drawn with fine antennae-like lines attached to the upper wings. In the side borders, these lines delicately cross, creating a transparent lattice that connects the figures. The pale brown/aubergine field gives an elegant abrashed mauve tone to the chuval, punctuated by large guls and unusual secondary motifs of triangles beautifully drawn and creatively composed.
