Thangka depicting the wrathful lion-headed deity Dakini Simhavaktra or Simhamukha, Tibet, 19th centuryTempered on canvas, the deity standing on his left leg, right leg raised, with a blue-black body, one face, two hands, three round, piercing red eyes, fangs and a curved tongue. The right hand holds a kartrîka towards the sky. The left hand carries a kapala filled with blood and a three-pronged khatvanga stick in the fold of the left elbow. Five human heads as a crown and normally fifty more as a necklace. Five bone ornaments and a tiger skin encircle his waist. Two bodhisattvas adorn the upper left and right corners. 67 x 46.5 cm
