Mercury-gilded copper alloy statuette depicting Yamantaka Vajrabhairava, wrathful form of Manjushri in yabyum with his shakti, Tibet, 18th centuryYamantaka Vajrabhairava depicted standing in pratyalidhasana with a large buffalo head and nine other heads, 34 arms and 16 legs. The main pair of hands holds a kartika and a kapala. The other hands hold various attributes. Adorned with various ornaments and a necklace of fifty heads, he embraces his consort, Vajra Vetali, who has only one face and two hands holding a kapala in her left hand. Bhairava's left legs are outstretched while the right ones are bent and leaning on various animals and figures. The hair is dyed red. The group rests on two tenons on a base decorated in relief with lotus petals. The consecration plate is missing. Height : 11 cm ; weight : 591 g
