A portrait miniature of a gentleman with voluminous brown wig and lace neckerchief over armour, circa 1690, the brass frame enamelled to reverse with border of acanthus leaves and central rosette in black and white on turquoise ground, suspension loop to top, 5.7 cm. high.
Two chipped areas to enamel on reverse by right edge of frame, one 0.5 cm. and the other just over 1 cm. long, no sign of signature, slight fading around sitter's mouth, some tiny losses to paint on edges of both sides.
