Dark brown plum wood, delicately carved and polished. Frog sitting on a large conch shell (Horagai) ready to leap. This piece displays a certain influence of Hara Shumin, whose student he is said to have been. W.4.1cm. Sign.: Shugetsu. The curved Kanji bears traces of reddish coloration. Of all of the Shugetsu's mentioned by LA on p. 987ff, most likely Shugetsu III, 1828-1880 from Edo. Condition A.
