WOLF-FERRARI, Teodoro. (1878-1945) S. Zenone degli Ezzelini in fratta, betulle.Mattino 29 Aprile 1935 H. 58 cm.L. 74 cm. Olio su tavola con cornice. Firmato in basso a destra.

Oil on board within frame. Signed on low right. Title and date on back. Teodoro Wolf Ferrari (Venice, June 29, 1878 - San Zenone degli Ezzelini, January 27, 1945) was an Italian painter. As an easel painter Wolf Ferrari dedicated himself exclusively to landscape themes: his shots avoided any symmetry of the subject and the colors were cold and anti-naturalistic. He then let himself be inspired by Klimt's landscape paintings to his afocal meadows, scattered with color and interrupted by tall trees ending well above the frame. Between the 1920s and 1930s he continued his investigation of the landscape theme, but clearly lightening the tones and avoiding the previous symbolist allusions. Instead, he devoted himself to a more careful study of light, now much more permeated by color, and widened his field of vision, preferring the wider view to close-up detail.
