Notevole studio, legato al tema della ‘Madonna con bambino’. Pompeo Marino Molmenti, 1819-1894, dopo gli studi presso l’Accademia di Venezia, intorno al 1843-44 seguì, in qualità di “pittore di viaggio”, il duca Saverio von Blacas in Oriente attraverso Grecia, Siria e Libia, così come fece anche Ippolito Caffi. Dall’esperienza trasse spunto per numerosi acquarelli e disegni a matita acquistati da Eugenia Bonaparte, attualmente dispersi. Completò la sua formazione a Firenze, Roma, Parigi e Monaco di Baviera, assorbendo le influenze delle varie correnti puriste europee. Nel 1850 espose tre dipinti che rimandano a Raffaello Sanzio: Cimabue scopre in Giotto il genio della pittura (perduto), una Sacra Famiglia dalla Madonna della seggiola, una Vergine con il Bambino e una Sant'Orsola per la chiesa omonima di Conegliano, ora conservata presso il deposito del duomo. Dal 1851 al 1867 fu professore di Elementi di figura all'Accademia ed ebbe come allievi Giacomo Favretto, Luigi Nono, Ettore Tito e Guglielmo Ciardi i quali, grazie ai suoi insegnamenti, furono protagonisti della stagione realista. Per quanto riguarda l'arte sacra, lasciò numerose opere sparse in varie chiese del Veneto.
