Serie completa, pubblicata per la prima volta nel 1633, di 18 incisioni originali in raro terzo stato su tre, con numerazione progressiva dei fogli in basso a destra. La serie racconta i tristi eventi che afflissero la Lorena nel 1633 quando i francesi assediarono Nancy. Le tragiche composizioni riflettono lo stato d'animo di un Callot malato, che nei suoi ultimi anni di vita assistette alla tragica fine del suo Paese. L’edizione fu curata da Israel, amico di Callot: nella legenda in basso una poetica descrizione delle scene rappresentate in tre distici in rime baciate. 18 Engravings of approx. 84x190mm. All engravings in state III/III with the addition of the number at the bottom right and the inscription “Callot inv et fec.” above the verses in the lower margin and the progressive number 1-18 in the lower right. The last plate, n. 18, is in IV State, with the inscription 'Callot fecit' and without 'Israel excudit'. The first plate with the title measures 94x190 mm. Good specimen with wide margins. Complete series, published for the first time in 1633, of 18 original engravings in a rare third state out of three, with progressive numbering of the sheets at the bottom right. The series chronicles the sad events that plagued Lorraine in 1633 when the French besieged Nancy. The tragic compositions reflect the mood of a sick Callot, who in his last years of life witnessed the tragic end of his country. The edition was edited by Israel, a friend of Callot: in the legend below a poetic description of the scenes represented in three couplets in kissed rhymes.
