CALLOT, Jacques. La halte des Bohemiens: les apprets du festin. Nancy, ca. 1621-1630 Incisione di 122x232 mm, carta vergellata, firmata in basso a sinistra "Callot fe." in stato II/II. Esemplare in brillante inchiostratura. Magnifica tavola, dalla serie "Les Bohémiens". Sono raffigurate diverse scene vivaci. La parte sinistra è consacrata alla preparazione del pranzo: un montone appeso è macellato da un giovane, un grande pentolone è appoggiato sul fuoco, un ragazzo su un ramo fa cuocere un enorme prosciutto, davanti al fuoco una giovane con i suoi bambini. Sulla destra, in fondo, una partoriente è accudita da diverse donne. In primo piano una donna seduta a terra spidocchia una bambina e dietro di loro alcuni uomini giocano a carte.Lieure 377.

The Gypsy camp: the Preparations of the Feast Etching of 122 x 232 mm, laid paper, signed in plate at lower left corner "Callot fe." State II/II.A fine impression with very strong contrasts and all the details distinct. Magnificent plate, from the "Les Bohémiens" series. Several vivid scenes are depicted. The left side is dedicated to the preparation of lunch: a hanging ram is cleaned up by a young man, a large pot is placed on the fire, a boy on a branch cooks a huge ham, in front of the fire a young woman with her children. On the right, at the bottom, a woman in labor is cared for by several women. In the foreground a woman sitting on the ground spider a children and behind them some men are playing cards.
