Large Chinese Early Ming Grayish Red Underglazed Charger. The shallow dish with a petal-barbed rim, delicately decorated in reversed grayish-red and white underglaze design, of vigorous dragon amidst dense of ruyi vapor clouds, banded with fine ring comforting the cavetto. The rim with sprays of floral foliate before bands of cresting LiShui water ribbon. Underglaze red are stable with subtle shades. The Lines of the drawings are clear; the light and dark shades are subtle. The glaze appearance on the blue painting resembled the texture of an orange peel "ju-pi" (chu-p'i) or a chicken skin. The porcelain vase is displayed upon a carved hardwood stand. The base is unglazed, reveals the pale-orange ground and grayish spots of firing marks.
