Tibet, circa 17th centurry The central medallion painted with a lively dragon, with the curling and flowing green mane and high, bulging forehead and claw-like eyebrows that are characteristic of dragons from Chinese designs dating from the middle of the Ming dynasty, the creature pursuing several precious jewels and set against a dark background with brightly coloured flowering plants, the background filled with a simplified brocade pattern of squares and rosettes, all bordered by a floral design, the sides of the chest left plain. 113cm x 41cm x 61cm (44 1/2in x 16in x 24in).
