Description: A group of five Japanese chaire
18th-19th century
Comprising: a double-gourd shaped chaire, possibly Iga with brown glaze dripping from the rim revealing the orange lower body;. an olive-green glazed Bizen chaire of katatsuki "protruding shoulder" form with two lug handles on shoulder and incised horizontal bands; a karamono-style finely-potted brown-glazed chaire of taikai "big ocean" form; a grey-glazed chaire of squat globular profile with a broad shoulder; a brown to black-glazed Bizen chaire of shiribukura "bulging hip" form, turned ivory covers.
