A nice deep smoky blue cobalt design of flowers with a central lily painting on this porcelain plate that has also been incised with cloud scrolls.A thinly potted bluish cast glazed porcelain plate with a slight rise to the lip that has had incising of cloud scrolls on the inner surface. The rim has been painted with an iron brown. The plate has been decorated in under glaze cobalt with designs of flowers in quatrefoil cartouches and a central medallion of a lily flower. The mouth has a repeating diamond band. There is no decoration on the underside. The under glaze cobalt used is a nice dark blue with very dark almost black areas. The blue is similar to the cobalt used on Ming porcelains. There is a shallow unglazed cut foot with the base being glazed. There are no marks or labels.MEASUREMENTS8 ??a€ (21.6 cm) diameter x 1 ??a€ (3.8 cm) tall. Weighs 13.6 oz (385 g)CONDITIONThere are no cracks, chips, or breaks. The plate rings like a bell. There is surface scratch wear indicative of age and usage. The plate shows well and is bright and clear.A great early Qing plate that is for Chinese taste and not for export.
