Early designs that are more Chinese than European. A nice dark non-purple cobalt color.Hand-potted and hand-painted dinner plate that is with designs on the rim of grape leaves, grapes, and bamboo. The inner well has a garden scene with gate, fence, wall, Lake Tai stone and flowers. There are two floral paintings on the underside rim.The pottera€?s wheel rings show through the glaze. The plat, which is thinly potted, has a wide rim that circles the shallow well. The white glaze has a bluish tinge and the cobalt is a rich dark blue. The foot ring is cut and unglazed and the base is glazed. The glaze has a nice thick smooth feel. The rim is gilded. There are no marks or labels.MEASUREMENTS 8 7/8a€ (22.5 cm) diameter x 15/16a€ (2,5 cm) tall. Weighs 12 oz (340 g)CONDITION The rim is very thin and has several rim chips. There is one larger chip and one smaller chip that show on the inside rim. There is a hairline crack but no breaks. There are some wear marks on the well of the plate. The glaze overall has a nice shiny look. Most of the rim gilding remains, although there is wear. The plate shows off well.This will make a nice addition to a grouping of early Ching/(Qing) blue and white. So much hand work.Item ID: Por-724
